Meet Chef Avi S. Deiter

The Head Chef of Wild Rose Restaurant

Executive Chef Avi Deiter joined Wild Rose Restaurant as Executive Chef in November 2012. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. After graduation, he worked at the historic Hotel Viking in Newport before moving to the White Mountains. For eight years, before joining us, he worked in management, focusing on staff and operations.

Chef Avi came to Stonehurst to return to the kitchen and because he loves historic properties. Besides the unique characteristics at Stonehurst, he finds the Manor team full of loyal, long-time employees. He mentors his staff in the kitchen and helps them grow to find their culinary niche.

After working with Wild Rose's menu for a few months, he launched a new menu that moved towards a more Italian influence. Not just traditional Italian entrees, but Italian ingredients and Manor-made fresh pasta influence our menu. He's particularly excited about the ravioli of the week, which allows his staff a chance to try something new and different by creating both the filling and the sauce.

Chef Avi's favorite foods are those enhanced in the preparation, and not hidden. His favorite entrée on the current menu is the Espresso-crusted sirloin topped with crispy leeks. He loves the flavor coffee brings to steak and loves watching skeptics agree once they've given it a try. His preferred kitchen gadget is the immersion blender, which makes it easy to blend soups and sauces.

When not at work, Avi lives on a farm with his wife and daughter. He devotes time to showing his daughter the value and rewards of hard work, with daily chores on their farm, gardening, and tending to their animals. He loves anything outdoors, but gets more enjoyment from history. The Remick Museum is his favorite New Hampshire attraction.
